3456079 - "The following users have exceeded the limit of 100 scoped roles" error shows when assigning a Scoped Role with more than 100 spaces to a user in Datasphere

Symptom

  • Error shows when assigning a Scoped role with more than 100 spaces to a user in Security > Users page
  • Error message: "The following users have exceeded the limit of 100 scoped roles"

Environment

SAP Datasphere

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon to Datasphere
  2. Go to Security > Users page
  3. Assign a Scoped Role which has more than 100 spaces
  4. Save the changes
=> "The following users have exceeded the limit of 100 scoped roles" shows

Cause

  • Currently, we have a restriction that "A user can be assigned to a maximum of 100 spaces across all scoped roles." as stated in the Help Guide.
  • So When adding scoped roles to users, if the number of spaces assigned to the role is greater than 100 then it will reach the limitation, and the error displays.

Resolution

Make sure the Scoped Roles does not exceed the assignment of 100 spaces. Create multiple roles instead to spread out the space assignments.
