3456403 - "The Analysis Add-in is not registered correctly (HRESULT: 0x80040155)" after Lync/Skype for Business software changes

Symptom

After uninstalling Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business 2013, the Analysis Office fails to start and shows the error message: The Analysis Add-in is not registered correctly ((Exception from HRESULT 0x80040155)

Environment

  • SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office 2.8
  • Microsoft Lync/Skype for Business 2013

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Uninstall Lync/Skype for Business 2013 or update to 2016
  2. Launch Analysis for Office

Cause

 3rd party program changes a registry key

Resolution

  1. Delete the registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{2DF8D04C-5BFA-101B-BDE5-00AA0044DE52}\2.8
  2. Reinstall SAP Analysis for Office.
