How Pass-Down Settlement Rule selection works with “Generate Settlement Rules - Projects” App.

Example

1. Create an Investment Project in “Project Control - Enterprise Projects” App with below settings.

2. Post cost to above WBS Elements in “Post General Journal Entries” App.

3. After execution in “Generate Settlement Rules - Projects” App, below Settlement result is expected.

Note: Choose “With Pass-Down Option” while creating an investment project, the Pass-Down Settlement Rule checkbox becomes available for selection.

Selecting the Pass-Down Settlement Rule in an Investment Project defines a hierarchical structure which the settlement rule is passed down from a WBS element and extends to child WBS elements in the hierarchy tree until another Pass-Down Settlement Rule checkbox is ticked again for a below WBS element. 

If the Pass-Down Settlement Rule checkbox ticked for a WBS element, the Settlement Rule is editable. The settlement rule is automatically passed down to all its subsequent child elements. This rule will continue to be passed down until it meets another WBS element further down the hierarchy where the checkbox is ticked again.

If Pass-Down Settlement Rule checkbox NOT ticked for a WBS element or any upper lever WBS elements, the Settlement Rule is editable.

If Pass-Down Settlement Rule checkbox NOT ticked for a WBS element but ticked for an upper lever WBS element, the Settlement Rule is not editable. This WBS is defined as a child element, and the settlement rule is automatically passed down from the upper level WBS element.
