3456959 - Tax Code XX is not Determined as Expected for a Sales Order Document in the System

Symptom

The Tax Code determination in a Sales Order is not occurring as expected.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Order Work Center.
  2. Go to the Sales Order View.
  3. Filter for All Orders.
  4. Search for the Sales Order ABC. (where ABC represents the Sales Order ID)
  5. Open, Select View All.
  6. Navigate to the Items tab.
  7. Select Tax Sub tab.

The Tax Code is displayed as XX. (where XX represents the Tax Code number)

Cause

Note: Please kindly search the scoping question below according to the External system (Avalara or Vertex) that you currently use.

  1. Go to the Business Configuration Work Center.
  2. Go to the Overview View.
  3. In the search field, search for "Do you want to use the services provided by Avalara to determine tax rates for US?".
  4. In the search field, search for "Do you want to use the services provided by Vertex to determine tax rates for US?".
  • In case you use the External system Avalara, the scoping question "Do you want to use the services provided by Avalara to determine tax rates for US?" is displayed as "In Scope".
  • In case you use the External system Vertex, the scoping question "Do you want to use the services provided by Vertex to determine tax rates for US?" is displayed as "In Scope".

Once one of scoping questions mentioned above is "In Scope" in the system, the Tax Determination will be defined in the External system and carried our to the Business ByDesign system.

Therefore in the scenario of the Sales Order ABC, the Business ByDesign system is sending a Tax Request to the External system (Avalara or Vertex) and receiving a response (without the Business ByDesign system affecting the Tax determination sent by the External system)

Resolution

As the Tax determination is occurring through a External system, we kindly ask you to contact the Avalara or Vertex team in order to check if the correct Tax Details are being sent correctly to the Business ByDesign system.
