3457377 - Workflow restarted when unblocking/Undeleting/adding/deleting the items.

Symptom

  • Workflow will be restarted when unblocking/Undeleting/adding/deleting item of purchase order or purchase requisition or purchase contract etc
  • Purchasing document (Example: Purchasing requisition/ Purchasing order) workflow restarted while setting the deletion indicator in the item level.
  • All item lines of a Purchase Order were deleted and the Workflow is triggered.
  • Workflow restarted after setting the deletion indicator in the purchasing document

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a Purchase Order with multiple lines
  2. Purchase Order goes to approval
  3. Purchase Order approved
  4. Access this same Purchase Order and delete a line items
  5. Workflow is triggered

Resolution

Currently system by default, mostly will trigger approvals again when unblocking/Undeleting/adding/deleting the item, However, it is advisable to conduct tests for specific documents, such as PO or PR or contact etc as they may have different behavior with various scenarios.

 To trigger approvals in above mentioned scenarios, system shall not check the SSCUI Manage Conditions to Restart Flexible Workflow or Restart Badi at all.

Consider to post new feature requirements over the customer influence forum for any changes required to the standard behaviors.

However, for purchase contracts, it has been confirmed by the developers that this functionality is considered for their backlog and will be available in the future, allowing control over the restart even when undeleting, adding, or deleting an item in the Fiori App 'Manage Purchase Contract'.
