3457875 - Unable to extend the multiple distribution channels to existing customer

Symptom

  • The customer was unable to extend multiple distribution channels to existing customers in their SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
  • The customer was using the API API_BUSINESS_PARTNER and the PATCH operation to access the A_CustomerSalesArea entity.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2402

Cause

The issue was due to the standard behavior of the PATCH method, which is not suitable for extending the field.

Resolution

The customer can use the API /sap/opu/odata/sap/API_BUSINESS_PARTNER/A_Customer('xxxx')/to_CustomerSalesArea to extend the Business Partner to another distribution channel.
