3459611 - When trying to refer a candidate, getting "The person you are trying to refer already exists on this job.” - Recruiting Management

When a user tries to a candidate to a job requisition via, the user is getting "The person you are trying to refer already exists on this job. Please refer this person to another job.".

• The candidate has already applied to the job requisition
• The candidate has created a draft application to the job requisition

For Cause 1, as of now the system will only allow you to refer candidates that haven't applied to the job requisition yet. This a system expected behavior.

For Cause 2, for draft applications there is an entry in the database to connect the saved application to the job requisition, which is why the error is displayed anyway. The option to overcome this and allow the referral is the user to contact the candidate and ask for them to delete their draft to allow the referral. The button is available in Careers > My Profile > Saved Applications:
