3459698 - Error - 'Account determination is missing for item type Cost of Sales' occurs while posting Goods and Activity Confirmation

The Goods and Activity Confirmation 'ABC' is not getting posted due to an error message "Account determination missing for item type cost of sales."

'ABC' refers to Goods and Activity Confirmation ID.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
2. Go to Source documents sub view.
3. Filter it with Unposted Source documents.
4. Search for the documents Goods and activity confirmation 'ABC'.
5. Highlight it and the error message is visible.

Error: Account determination is missing for item type Cost of Sales. Specify account determination in chart of accounts 'DEF' and account determination profile. Column Path Sales->Cost of Sales->Cost of Sales, Item Type Cost of Sales. 

'DEF' refers to Chart of Accounts ID.

Cost of Sales account assignment is required for the Goods and Activity Confirmation. 

It is not maintained so that Account determination missing error occurs. Also, under the Cost of Sales tab, for Finished goods the cost of sales should be maintained as COGS Material Consumed, and the same will be taken into the Goods and Activity Transaction for the postings.

1. Go to work center Business Configuration.
2. Go to the Overview sub view.
3. Select and open the activity Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination.
4. Under Account Determination, select the Subledger Sales.
5. Highlight the Chart of accounts 'DEF' and go to the tab Cost of sales.
6. Try to maintain the required account determination based on the Goods and activity confirmation either it is Materials or services.
7. For Finished goods, if the Cost of Sales has been maintained as COGS Material Consumed, then try to maintain the account determination for Materials.
8. Now, go to the General Ledger work center.
9. Go to Source documents sub view.
10. Filter it with Unposted Source documents.
11. Search for the documents Goods and activity confirmation 'ABC'.
12. Select Actions-->Post Business Transaction.

It will get posted without any error message.
