Symptom
- As per SAC blog on what's new in release 2023.22/2024 QRC1, you would like to understand the logic of transporting object level security regarding teams.
- If you set view/edit permission on a parent folder for a specific Team that is not associated to below folders, even if you do not flag “share the same permission to subfolders and files”, after transporting the folders the System behaves as if this flag is enabled.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud Version 2023.22
Reproducing the Issue
- Login to SAC source tenant.
- Go to the story you would like to export.
- Login to destination tenant.
- Go to Transport > Export.
- Notice that the workflow is sharing to teams that are not expected by your understanding.
Cause
- This is a by design behavior.
-
The workflow goes as follows:
1. Parent folder is imported first.
2. Permissions to the Parent folder are assigned.
3. Sub-folder is imported next.
4. It inherits the Permissions from Parent by "default".
5. Whatever additional permissions are there for sub-folder they are appended to the inherited permissions from parents.
Resolution
If you would like to exclude certain entities, you have to manually remove the assigned teams for the sub-folders.
