3461642 - Wrong default email address is used in customer compared to the correct default email address in BP

Symptom

In a Business Partner with a customer role, you have maintained multiple email addresses. You have set one email address as the default email address (default valid from and default valid to dates are set).

However, when creating a transaction (e.g.  a sales order) with the customer role, a different email address is used as the default email. This is not expected.

The symptom also applies to vendor master data and other communication data (e.g. telephone number).
