3461657 - Performance degradation in ODE (Optimized Design Experience) or OVM (Optimized View Mode) in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

After a classic application is converted to an optimized design experience (ODE) or optimized view mode (OVM), it takes longer to load the ODE or OVM story than the classic application.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

1. Convert a classic application to an ODE or OVM story.
2. Compare the time of opening the story in the view mode and running the original classic application.
3. It take longer to open the story in the view mode.

For OVM or ODE, background loading is improved in a way that the visible and in-viewport widgets will be loaded at first and other widgets will be waited in the queue.
If any background loading widget is used in the script, SAC needs to wait for that widget to be ready, which may take longer time.

Check "Always initialize on startup" (styling panel -> Actions) for the widgets that are used in the initial loading scripts and also check this setting for parents of these widgets. As a result, these widgets will not be considered into the background loading.
