3461766 - Error : 'The freehand query is not an entity set or function import' when creating an OData query in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

When creating a query for import model based on Datasphere connection with Odata in SAC, getting following errors:

  • Couldn't create <Query_name> job
  • 'The freehand query is not an entity set or function import'
  • The following error message comes from the external data service: status: 400 body: {"status":400,"message":"Bad request; please refer to documentation"}"'

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD 2024.2.8
Connection: Import
Datasource: Datasphere using OData services

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to SAC 
  2. Go to Modeler
  3. Create new import model with data
  4. Select the data-source as OData services
  5. Select the connection 
  6. Provide a query name
  7. Select Freehand query
  8. Type the freehand query and click next
  9. Notice that query failed to create with the error: 'The freehand query is not an entity set or function import'.

Cause

This issue is under investigation by the development team.
