In app Project Cost Report or Project Budget Report, using wildcard in project selection results in message "Filter condition is too complex".

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

1. Open app Project Cost Report or Project Budget report.
2. Use a wildcard in project selection, for example, I* or *DE*.
3. Hit Go and the the user receives message "Filter condition is too complex".

The current design of apps Project Budget Report and Project Cost Report prevents selection with complex patterns like I* or *DE* to prevent the user from inadvertently selecting very large data volume while selecting the projects. This is because these reports combine large data set from budget, actuals and commitments and display it in a hierarchical format. 

As a workaround, if the user needs to select projects with the patterns mentioned, they can do the following:

1.  Open the value help of the project.
2.  Search with the pattern you like, for example I* or *DE*.
3.  Select required projects (you can also use Shift+Select to select a range of projects).
