3464195 - Signal 11 in LeRangePart::_LpRangeAdhocSearch(), open_range, rvm_fetch_attr, s_mustrecompile, proc__search - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE error log reports signal 11 error(s) of various patterns
  • On systems running SAP applications, these result in program failures and short dumps.
  • Some patterns lead to ASE shutting down


  • The problem sequence start usually with a signal 11 (but sometimes a signal 10 SIGBUS is reported) 

    Current process (hex#) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    Address hex# (stack_function+#)

  • The stack_funtion and the following stack pattern varies and can include:

    • LeRangePart::_LpRangeAdhocSearch
      LeRangePart::LePartGetPartitionId
      LeInsertOp::_LeOpNext
      LeEmitNoSndOp::_LeOpNext
      LePlanNext

    • open_range
      s_opentables
      s_mustrecompiler

    • rvm_fetch_attr
      s_mustrecompile

    • LeOpContext::Initialize
      LeEmittOp::_LeOpAcquire
      LeEmitSndOp::_LeOpAcquire
      LePlanAcquire

    • proc__search
      proc_get
      s_getTreeOrPlan
      sqt_get_plan
