3464235 - Journal Entry Voucher For Fixed Assets Does Not Generate Journal Entries

When Journal Entry Voucher ABC of type Manual Posting for Fixed Assets is created for Fixed Asset DEF, it is noted that no G/L Accounts appear on the Items section and also no Journal Entry was generated for it. (ABC and DEF stands for the Journal Entry Voucher and Fixed Asset ID)

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Open Journal Entry Vouchers view.
3. Search and open Journal Entry Voucher ABC.
4. It will be noticed that there is no Journal Entries related, and in Items section the amounts are allocated to no G/L Account. 

Journal Entry Voucher ABC is a Manual Posting for Fixed Assets posted to a Valuation View which is a statistical view that do not generate postings on G/L Accounts.

If a Set of Books has multiple Valuation Views, only one Valuation View is relevant for postings from the Fixed Assets subledger to the general ledger. All other Valuation Views are statistical views that provide all the information in the Fixed Assets subledger but do not generate any postings. The statistical views can be evaluated with reports.

All valuation views are independent of each other, even if multiple valuation views are assigned to one set of books. A change of valuation parameters (such as useful life, depreciation method, depreciation start date, etc.) in one valuation view does not affect the same valuation parameters in other valuation views.

Checking on Fixed Asset DEF master data:

1. Go to Fixed Assets work center.
2. Open Fixed Assets view.
3. Find and open Fixed Asset DEF.
4. Go to Values tab.
5. Here, it is noted that for Set of Books GHI, there are more than one Valuation View.
6. Checking on Journal subtab, it is noted that only for one Valuation View there are Journal Entries generated. A Valuation View which is different from the one that Journal Entry Voucher.

(GHI stands for the Set of Books ID)

This is expected system behavior.
