3464243 - Corba SSL error javax.net.ssl.SSLProtocolException: Input record too big on weblogic

Symptom

  • Issues seen after configuring the CORBA Secure Socket Layer (SSL) between SAP BusinessObjects 4.3 SP1 patch 5, and the WebLogic web/application server (WLS) 12.3.
  • KBA 2634052 is used to configure Corba SSL with self signed certificate. KBA 3026364 used for Corba SSL with CA-signed certificate.
  • Errors noticed in Weblogic server logs:

    weblogic.security.SSL.jsseadapter: SSLENGINE: Exception occurred during SSLEngine.unwrap(ByteBuffer,ByteBuffer[]).
    javax.net.ssl.SSLProtocolException: Input record too big: max = 16709 len = 29237
            at sun.security.ssl.SSLEngineImpl.readRecord(SSLEngineImpl.java:516)
            at sun.security.ssl.SSLEngineImpl.unwrap(SSLEngineImpl.java:418)
            at sun.security.ssl.SSLEngineImpl.unwrap(SSLEngineImpl.java:397)
    .... 

  • Errors noticed when testing with the openssl connect command.

    openssl s_client -connect Servername:Port -showcerts -CAfile yourservercertificate.jks  
    CONNECTED(00000004)
    write:errno=131
    ---
    no peer certificate available
    ---
    No client certificate CA names sent
    ---
    SSL handshake has read 0 bytes and written 259 bytes
