3467322 - Dump/Error occurs when you try to create a Custom Order for a List type field

Symptom

You face a dump/error when you try to maintain a name for custom order for a list field via adaptation

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP Cloud For Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Enter adaptation and adapt any list type field
  2. In the overview, open the value option and navigate to code list
  3. Under sort select "Custom"
  4. Under Custom Order maintain any name when the drop down is empty and click anywhere and dump/error saying "An error occurred; please try again. If the problem persists, report an incident on component AP-RC-UIF-FLX-FRW "

Cause

This is the expected behavior. The error occurs because the value you entered in the custom order is not a part of the drop down for the custom order and hence system is unable to find that custom order and throws an error.

Below is an example of the error when I maintained the Value "Test" in custom order, even though it wasn't present in the the drop down.

This Section is mainly used to find already existing custom orders and not to maintain new ones.

Resolution

Below are the steps to prevent this error from occurring and to maintain a new "Custom Order"

  1. When you select Custom Sort, click on Create/Edit

     2. This will open the below screen and here add your the required order under custom order
