3467459 - Upgrade to Latest Goals has failed.

Symptom

The latest Goals was enabled as an opt-out which was later disabled. When tried to upgrade to latest goal management, the upgrade failed.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management
  • Preview Environment

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Login to instance
  2. Navigate to Upgrade Center. (Admin Center > Search for Upgrade center).
  3. Click on View All completed upgrades. (As upgrade to latest goals was not available in the pending upgrades).
  4. Scroll to the Latest Goal management and Click on Upgrade now.

Result: Upgrade might show as failed. Can retry this after few hours so that upgrade would show successful.

     5. But when navigated to goal module, the template is still unconverted.

Cause

This issue is not directly caused by Upgrade Centre Framework. It is the way we are saving FeatureEnums today.  Each saving of feature retrieves all the system’s Provisioning level feature list and their status first, then saves all the system’s features list together. Therefore from the point of retrieval to the actual save, there could be other configurations being triggered at the same time, as a result retrieving an outdated version of the feature status.

Our Goals upgrade was indeed successful, but it was overwritten by other FeatureEnums being triggered around the same time.

Workaround if it happens in future as the issue is already resolved for us.

  1. Manually upgrade the goal management without checking any other FeatureEnum actions around a similar time

Advise:

  1. To reduce chance of feature saving conflict, we should explain that any ‘save feature’ related actions (FeatureEnum actions, not specific to upgrade centre feature enums) done around a similar time could trigger the conflict. Then we advise that the admin does not save too many FeatureEnum actions together.
  2. Customer may need to wait a few mins for upgrading actually to take place (depending on cache time). So going back to the first point, the customer needs to make sure the upgrade has taken place and reflected on the UI before they go into make other configurations.

Resolution

  • Admin Center > Search for "OData API Metadata Refresh and Export".
  • Clear Cache.
  • Logout and Login back once.

Issue is resolved.
