Symptom
While assigning a manager with termination date defined during adding or updating job information of an employee, system throws a warning message:
User X(X) has an inactive manager, Y (Y), as of MM/DD/YY. The manager provided in the record has the status Terminated, which means they are inactive.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Add a new employee with fixed term contract or as a contingent worker
- Assign a manager who is also a contingent worker and has termination date defined
- While saving, system throws the warning message saying that the status of the Manager is terminated:
- If you try to edit or add a record to the user where the manager is already terminated, two messages will appear, and it will not be possible to save:
Cause
This is a designed validation to avoid Inactive managers on Job Information.
Resolution
Even when you are adding an employment that will end before the Termination of the manager, system will throw the warning, since you could still extend the termination of the new user, which would create an invalid manager.
While trying to add a record for a date where the manager is already terminated, system also throws the error message, since all the records are validated in case of contingent worker.
If you want to proceed with the manager that has a termination date in the future, click on "Proceed". Otherwise, click on "Correct" and add a manager without planned end date.
