Symptom
When trying to consume the local tables present in the space in the Database explorer, unable to see the tables name being fetched in the repository.
Environment
SAP Datasphere
Reproducing the Issue
- Local table is accessible in Data Builder
- When accessing the Space management >Database users >SPACE USER > Open Database Explorer
- Selecting the correct Schema, table is not found in the repository
Resolution
- There is a difference between a Database Analysis user and space user.
-
-
- Database Analysis User: can read all space data, SAP HANA monitoring views, traces, reproduce issues and use explain plan. Refer to Create a Database Analysis User to Debug Database Issues
- Database User on Space-Level: The user can read the data that has been exposed in the space. Refer to Create a Database User
-
- The database user in the space is not supposed to access the local table in space schema, but only allow the database user to connect external tools to the space schema and read views that are exposed for consumption.
So for the local table in space schema, if you want to access it via database user, you need to create a view based on the local table, and then expose the view for consumption, then you can read the view.
