3469622 - Error message during the creation of new Coding Masks

Symptom

Error message 'At least one coding mask is already being used' (CJ681) is displayed while creating a new Coding Mask via SSCUI 102881 - Project Coding Mask configuration.

Environment

S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

Open app 'Manage your solution' and click in Configure your solution;
Select the following options:
- Application area: Enterprise Portfolio & Project Management;
- Sub-Application area: Project Financials Control.
Under Define Project Coding Mask, click on configure;
Proceed with the creation of a Coding Mask;
When clicking on Save, the error message 'At least one coding mask is already being used (Message nº CJ681)' will be displayed.

Cause

There are existing projects in the system that have the Project ID starting with the same letter/prefix defined during the creation of the Coding Mask.

Resolution

To allow the creation of Coding Mask as needed, it is necessary to delete or archive all projects that have the Project ID starting with the same letter or prefix previously defined.

There are two options to do so, based on the project status:

For projects that are on the Created status, users can simply delete it and proceed with the Coding Mask configuration;
However, projects that are in statuses different than Created (e.g. Released, Closed or Completed) cannot be deleted and still interfere in such creation. Once these projects are deleted/archived, the creation of the Coding Mask should be successful.
