3471726 - Error message "Duplicate rule found for externalCode: XYZ" when saving transaction - SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

• When adding a new employee an application error happens blocking you to finish the hire. OR
• Error message "Duplicate rule found for externalCode: XYZ" displayed when publishing a one-time payment.

Note: XYZ means the business rule ID.

• SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
• SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite

• The error message displayed happens when multiple records for the rule contain different scenarios, leading to a duplicate rule error.
• Egg. A rule should not have the first record with the scenario "Basic" and the second scenario with "Trigger Workflows". 

In order to fix this is needed to make sure that all records of the rules have one single scenario. When you find the inconsistencies please follow:

1. Go to Configure Business rules.
2. Find the affected rule.
3. Find the record with "Basic" scenario.
4. Click on "Change Scenario"(Please select same scenario that is used already in other records).
5. Save.
