3471834 - DUMP DATABASE fails with an 8006 error due to Backup Server error 3.1.2.1 - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When DUMP DATABASE command is run, ASE may report an 8006 error followed by a stack trace:

Error: 8006, Severity: 20, State: 1
ASE error detected by Backup Server. Refer to the preceding Backup Server message.
ASE is terminating this process.

  • The stack trace includes functions:

exc__raise
exc_raise
as_interpret_rpc_return
as_exec_rpc
dmpld_get_stripe_size
dpdb_main

  • Backup Server reports the following error:

Backup Server: 3.1.2.1: Unrecognized RPC received--ignored.
