Symptom

In 2405 latest goal, users can not save 4000 multi-byte language characters in latest goal standard textarea type fields (e.g. metric/description) .

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Goal Management

Reproducing the Issue

1. In latest goal, set the maxlength of description field or other standard textarea type field to 4000 (e.g. metric/description).

2. In goal plan, enter 4000 multi-byte language characters in those fields (e.g. Japanese, Chinese) and save the goal.

3. Open the created goal, notice that the entered content is truncated to around 1333 characters.

Cause

This is a Known Issue.

Resolution

The fix for this issue is planned to be deployed with the patch b2405p[7]. For patch timelines, please review SAP SuccessFactors Patches Knowledge Base.

Workaround

Currently, custom textarea fields with maxlength 2000/4000 can save 2000/4000 multi-byte characters without issue. Therefore as a workaround you can use custom textarea type fields instead of the standard ones.
