3474638 - Authentication failed error when validating SAP HANA connection - SAP Datasphere

Symptom

Validating a HANA Database connection in SAP Datasphere results in the following errors: 

  • Unable to connect remote source: Error occurred when connecting to Hana database. Error: [10]: authentication failed., Code: 5921, SQL State: HY000
  • Remote Tables: Unable to connect remote source: [SAP AG][LIBODBCHDB SO][HDBODBC] General error;10 authentication failed, Code: 5921, SQL State: HY000

    Environment

    Reproducing the Issue

    1. Configure the SAP HANA connection with Authentication Type: User Name And Password
    2. Use the Validate option in SAP Datasphere to test the connection. 

    Cause

    The SAP HANA Credentials of the connection are incorrect. 

    Resolution

    1. Check and verify the logon credentials. 
    2. If possible, try to logon directly to the DB with the same credentials.
