3475182 - Post revenue from sales order to cost center

Symptom

  • Cost center is not available at Sales Orders cost assignment options.
  • When using Project Revenues as sales orders accounting objects the only settlement option available is to settle the project to a Profitability segment and no option to settle the project to cost center is available.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Resolution

With revenue posted to the cost center, it is not possible to do distribution or assessment of this revenue because they are just for information only.

Revenues are posted to cost centre only statistically. This means that while it is possible to repost revenues to other cost centers for adjustment purposes, other allocations are not possible. If the revenue account is defined as cost element, then some assignment to cost object is required (it could be cost centre, I/O, WBS), but there should be also an assignment to true object, e.g. profit centre or' true' CO object (WBS).

Furthermore, revenues are ignored in iterative activity price calculation and are therefore not included in the allocation prices of activity types.

If there is a requirement to have revenues posted on cost centers, it is suggested to use a cost element of category 11 and then assign a cost center as CO object.
