3475716 - New story calculations are not visible in View/Present mode when a bookmark exists in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

Since 2024.9.3 wave release, When there is a bookmark in an Optimized story, any new calculation on account/measure added to a table or a chart is not present in the widgets on View/Present mode in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2024.15.2

Reproducing the Issue

Open an Optimized Design Experience story in View mode.
Create a bookmark.
Switch to Edit mode.
Select Bookmarks under Left side panel > Outline.
Make sure it is set to "Selected Components Only" and only the input controls are selected.
Add a calculated measure/account to the table and chart.
Save the story and switch to View mode again.
Notice in the original story the new calculation is present in the chart and table.
Open the bookmark.
--> Notice the new calculation is NOT present in the chart and table.
Switch to Present mode.
--> Notice the new calculation is NOT present in the chart and table.

Cause

This is by design.
In the existing bookmark mechanism, calculations are handled as global entities, and a bookmark saves all calculation entities present in the story at the time of saving.
When a bookmark is applied, the calculation entities from the bookmark replace those in the current story. Consequently, any new calculations added to the story after the bookmark was saved are lost when the bookmark is loaded.

Resolution

As a workaround, after a calculation is added to the story and saved, creating a bookmark ensures that all calculation entities are included.
A new switcher ("Include Edit Time Changes") will be added under Story Details > Bookmark Settings to control whether newly added calculations will be retained. If the switcher is enabled, new story calculations will remain even if an old bookmark is applied.
This enhancement will be handled as a new feature and will be available in future releases. The feature development work is ongoing, and currently, there is no commitment to when this feature will be available.
