3476748 - Email responses from candidates are not visible in Message Center and are not received by the recruiting User

Symptom

When a candidate sends a response to a recruiting user's email the response email does not appear in Message Center and the email is not received by the recruiter.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management 

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Recruiting
  2. Select a Job Requisition 
  3. Go to an application and select send email (or send email from candidate profile)
  4. Complete email steps completing with I'm done
  5. Respond to email
  6. Email is not received by recruiter
  7. Email response does not appear in Message Center

Resolution

Issue was caused by inbound mail handler failing to handle and process message.

Workaround applied fixed the issue and allows the handling of the inbound email to progress to application layer for updating the Message Center with the candidate response and to send the email to the recruiting user.

Engineering have committed to monitoring tool for Message Center to detect and notify them of any issues with the James server that handles these onbound emails. This will monitor failures on inbounds in the future.
