3478602 - Validation on Insert New Record for Work Order - Employee Central

Symptom

A new validation was introduced on first half-year release of 2024 to avoid overlap with existing active work order while inserting new record.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the profile of a contingent worker
  2. Open the History of Work Order and click to Insert New Record
  3. Add an effective date previous to the work order end (inactive) date
  4. Error is displayed "Work Order should be inserted only in an existing Inactive Work Order"

Note: these steps are only available if the option "Concurrent Employment for Contingent Workers" is disabled. If concurrent employment for contingent workers is enabled, it is not possible to insert a new record from Work Order portlet.

Resolution

This is an enhancement made to avoid overlapping records on active work orders. Work orders can only have the details filled for the Active and Inactive records. If you try to insert a new record, this must be done after the end date of the previous work order. For changes on the work order details, please use "Actions" and "Edit Work Order".

If Concurrent Employment for Contingent Workers is enable, you will also not be able to insert a record before the end date of the work order, as only the two records for Active and Inactive are available.
