Symptom
After Clicking "Edit", the story takes around 20 seconds to show the effect of the click and show that it has been changed to Edit mode.
Environment
SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2024.8.10
Reproducing the Issue
- Logon to SAP Analytics Cloud
- Open an Optimized Story
- Switch to Edit Mode
- Notice that it takes around 20 seconds for the story to show that it has switched to edit mode.
Before that, it looks like the user didn't click on Edit.
Cause
The issue is due to the Story Container needing to be reloaded on the initial entry into the Edit Mode.
- The need to reload the Story Container the first time you enter the Edit Mode is an integral part of SAC design on Optimized Design Experience.
- When opening a Story in View Mode, SAC do not need to load all resources, allowing for a lightweight way to open the story. However, upon entering Edit Mode, all resources for the Story's functionality are required, necessitating a reload of the Story.
Resolution
Open the Story directly in Edit Mode to avoid the need for reloading the Story when you are going to edit a story.
- You can do this by following these steps: File Browser -> the File Folder -> More Actions (represented by the "..." icon) -> Open in Story Edit Mode.
