3480144 - Product search help does not display all materials in apps such as "Manage Sales Orders - Version 2" and "Manage Sales Quotations - Version 2"


This issue happens in apps: "Manage Sales Orders - Version 2" and the "Manage Sales Quotations - Version 2". When creating sales orders or sales quotations, when inputting product, e.g.,  "801242" in the item-level "Product" field, this product does not appear in the quick search help beneath. Open the "product search help" by clicking the "two squares" icon and input "801242", still this product does not appear in the result area. Product "801242" can only be found in the results when clicking the "Show Filters" and inputting it directly into the "Product" field.




The primary reason for the material number not showing in the search, is that this material contains only numbers (numeric value). In the backend, this material number is actually stored with leading zeros. As a result, the current HANA search with a 0.9 fuzziness (strict search) is not able to find the value.


(1) Based on the current product:

The workaround is to add a leading zero at the front of the material ID (numeric value, which contains only numbers).

(2) In the future:

The development team has discussed internally around this topic. It was decided that the search would be made less strict and hence it is decided to change the fuzziness to 0.8, which will lead to a much better result. This improvement is currently planned to be delivered in CE2408 (but please be noticed that the date is subject to change in case of some issues).
