3480507 - "Cannot insert duplicate key" error occurs while running synchronization cronjob

Symptom

When synchronization of cronjob is running long, the following error can be observed in logs:

com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.contentslot' with unique index 'cmsItemByUidCvIDX_1066'. The duplicate key value is (CS_xxx_Section1, 8796xxxxxx649). 

Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.cmscomponent' with unique index 'cmsItemByUidCvIDX_1084'. The duplicate key value is (cmsitem_00xxx019, 8796xxxxxx649).; nested exception is com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.cmscomponent' with unique index 'cmsItemByUidCvIDX_1084'. The duplicate key value is (cmsitem_00107019, 8796xxxxxx649).
