3480634 - Unable to add more than 40 characters E-signature Meaning Codes

Symptom

When trying to update the E-signature Meaning Codes for the desired locales, the system doesn't allow adding more than 40 characters.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. System Administration > Reference > Manage Users Learnings >
  2. E-signature Meaning Codes > Search and access the desired one > Description >
  3. Open the localization popup (globe icon) > Try adding a text with more than 40 characters >
  4. The system doesn't add the full text, limiting it to 40 characters.

Cause

Via the Learning UI, the system holds a limit of 40 characters related to the E-signature Meaning Codes texts in each locale. The limit being seen via the UI is appropriate.

Resolution

To have a different system behavior, it would be possible to have an enhancement request (KBA 2090228) created for it, where the Learning Product Management team can further review and assess the requested functionality to be considered in a future release.

As a workaround, to bypass the 40 characters limit, the export/import label process can be done:

  1. Learning admin side > Make sure the meaning code ID that will be accessed has a value in the same locale that’s being used by the Learning admin > For example: The meaning code ID is “RECORD” > “RECORD” has values present in many locales, like “English”. The Learning admin locale could be any of those that have the value present, such as “English” >
  2. Considering the UI is in “English” > Learning admin side > References > E-signature Meaning Codes > Search and access the desired E-signature Meaning Code > Copy the description >
  3. References > Manage Labels > Labels > “Label Value” field > Set it to “Contains” > Then, add the E-signature Meaning Code description that was copied in the field > Search > The result should return the label ID > Copy the ID >
  4. References > Manage Labels > Label Import/Export > Select "Export Labels" > Next > Select the desired locale in the “Active Locale ID” > Next > In the “Label ID” field, add the copied label ID > Add > Next > In the “Export File” field, add the desired name to the file that you’ll export > Download > Save the file >
  5. Open the file you saved > Add the desired text after the equal sign (“=”) > Save the change made in the file >
  6. References > Manage Labels > Label Import/Export > Select "Import Labels" > Next > Choose File > Select the file you just saved and updated > Next > Next > In the “Active Locale ID” field, select the one that was used when the export happened > Configure “Use By” (“Both” could be set) > Check the box of the “Overwrite Existing Labels” > Finish.
