3482031 - Error "Change of party not permitted; contract exists on item" Raised when Changing Employee Responsible in Active Contract

When changing the Employee Responsible of a Contract, error "Change of party not permitted; contract exists on item" is raised and the Contract becomes Inconsistent.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
2. Open the Contracts view.
3. Find Contract ABC (Where ABC Represents the ID of the Contract you wish to change the Employee Responsible from).
4. Click the View All button.
5. Navigate to the Involved Parties tab.
6. Change the Employee Responsible assigned to the Contract.

Error "Change of party not permitted; contract exists on item" is raised.

In this case, the change of Employee Responsible is also resulting in a change/update the Sales Unit. The system has a validation which checks if a Contract already exists before allowing such modification, and this causes the error.

This is the expected system behavior.
