3486570 - Application error occurs when changing Pay component for Recurring Deduction

Symptom

When updating Pay Component for Recurring Deduction, after clicking Save, there is an application error: 

"An application error occurred. Please try again later, or notify support if the issue keeps occurring."

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Recurring Payment & Deduction portlet
  2. Click History > Edit an existing record
  3. Choose a new pay component and set the End date
  4. Click Save
  5. Error shows up

Resolution

Code correction ticket is created to handle null pointer exception. The fix is planned as part of 2411 release.

Workaround: 

Instead of changing pay component, delete the earlier pay component by clicking on delete icon, then add new required pay component with amount, currency, etc. and save.
