3487269 - Product could not be created due to error message M3318 - "Number & not defined for material type &" - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Error message M3 318 "Number & not defined for material type &" appears when creating product in app Create Material (MM01).

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.

1. Open app Create Material
2. Select Material Type
3. Input number outside of material type's external number range in material field 
4. Click Enter
5. Error M3318 appears

The external number provided is not within corresponding external number range.

Material inputted in the create material app is without leading zeros like ABCDE but the material number range defined is with leading zeros like 0000000000000AAAAA  -  0000000000000ZZZZZ 

Note: Material Number ranges cannot be transported to Production System, they need to be configured.

Update material number ranges to include the desired material numbers via SSCUI/Configuration Activity 102282 "Define Number Ranges for Each Material Type" in order to create product successfully.

Alphanumerical ordering starts with numbers and then letters 

if number range defined with leading zeros then external number inputted in Create Material app needs leading zeros as well 0000000000000ABCDE
