3488102 - Unable to view any connection under "Connection Type" when creating a new SQL Database connection in SAC.

Symptom

Unable to view any connections configured in the "DriverConfig.properties" file when creating a new SQL Database connection in SAC.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Windows.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to SAP Analytics Cloud.
  2. From the left navigation bar, go to Connections.
  3. Click on Add connection (+ icon) to create a new connection.
  4. Select Acquire data -> SQL Databases.
  5. Select your Location.
  6. Note that none of your databases are available for selection.

Cause

The Environment Variable has not been configured properly.

Resolution

As shown in our guide: Import Data Connection to an SQL Database, the DriverConfig.properties file indicates the location of the JDBC drivers for your databases. However, the SAP_CLOUD_AGENT_PROPERTIES_PATH must also be set to indicate where the DriverConfig.properties file is located.

The SAP_CLOUD_AGENT_PROPERTIES_PATH environment variable should be created under the "System variables" section instead of the "User variables" section. If it is indicated under the wrong section, the DriverConfig.properties file will not be found, and your connection will not display your databases.

In order to maintain your environment variables:

  1. Press Windows key + R.
  2. Type sysdm.cpl and hit Enter/OK.

  3. Select Advanced and open Environment variables.

  4. Maintain your variables in the System Variables section.
