3488170 - Excel Add-in is not Available After Installation

Symptom

You are trying to install the Excel add-in, however the installation does not create the add-in instance in the "AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns" folder. Also the add-in does not appear in Excel.

Environment

  • SAP Cloud for Customer 
  • SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Application and User Management.
  2. Enter the Download Center view.
  3. Click to download the Excel Add-in.
  4. After downloading, execute the file and proceed with the installation.

After a successful installation, the add-in is not available.

You have also confirmed that the add-in does not appear when searching it in the Excel settings by following the below steps:

  1. Open the Excel client
  2. Click on the File menu.
  3. Click on Options.
  4. Navigate to the Add-ins section.
  5. In Manage field, select COM Add-ins.
  6. Click on the Go button.
  7. Check the entry for SAP Add-in for Microsoft Excel.
  8. Click on the Ok button.

Cause

The add-in was installed in an ARM based Windows device. This may require an additional script to be executed manually after the installation.

Resolution

After finishing the add-in installation, please execute the script "sapExcelAddon.vsto" which is located by default under the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP\Add-In\Add-In for Microsoft Excel 2007\.

After the script is executed, please follow the below steps to activate the add-in:

  1. Open the Excel client
  2. Click on the File menu.
  3. Click on Options.
  4. Navigate to the Add-ins section.
  5. In Manage field, select COM Add-ins.
  6. Click on the Go button.
  7. Check the entry for SAP Add-in for Microsoft Excel.
  8. Click on the Ok button.
