3491159 - Is jailbreak or rooted devices detection available in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) ?

Symptom

Is jailbreak or rooted devices detection available in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) ?

Environment

SAP ANALYTICS CLOUD

Mobile devices - iOS/ Android

Cause

  • iOS device is considered compromised if it has been jailbroken. This could potentially allow the installation of unofficial apps, the modification of previously restricted settings, or the bypassing of security controls.
  • Android device is considered compromised if it has been rooted. This means that users may have the ability to modify the software code on the device or install software that is not typically allowed by the manufacturer.

Resolution

  • Ensuring device security is the customer's responsibility.
  • To ensure the security and stability, it is crucial to prevent the usage of 'Jailbroken or Rooted devices', 'Use of custom firmware', and 'Malicious apps'
  • SAP cannot be held responsible for any data loss or cyber-attacks that may occur due to a decrease in the security posture of your device or the devices used by your end users.

To prevent data loss, data tampering and data leakage through the use of jailbroken or rooted devices:

  • It is not recommended to modify devices to a state that is not supported by the manufacturer.
  • It is important to follow good practices such as using anti-virus software that includes real-time scanning. Additionally, make sure to regularly update and patch your operating system (OS) and application components.
  • Implementing proper IT measures such as utilizing Mobile Device Management software (MDM) at a corporate level.
