Symptom

  • OPatch failed with error code 73
    Processing patch "<patch_number>"...failed.
    Reason: Cannot roll back patch.
  • OPatchSession cannot load inventory for the given Oracle Home /oracle/<SID>/<version>.
  • Unable to lock Central Inventory.  OPatch will attempt to re-lock.
  • Oracle software owner is user ora<sid> while Central Inventory folder /oracle/oraInventory is owned by user oracle
