How to assign employees to an Organizational Unit through Data Import and Export Tool?

Environment

  • SAP Service Cloud v2
  • SAP Sales Cloud v2

Cause

You need to use the Update method in order to add new employees to an existing organizational unit.

Resolution

  1. Go to Data Import & Export screen.
  2. Click on export button.
  3. Select Organizational Unit entity.
  4. Filter by the ID of wanted org unit.
  5. Export the complete entity.
  6. Open the Organizational_Unit_Employee_Assigment file.
  7. Add the technical ID of the employee you want to assign to that org unit in the "Employee Technical ID" column.
  8. Add the Parent_Technical_Key in the Organizational_Unit_Employee_Assigment which is the Technical ID from the Org Unit in the Organizational_Unit main file.
  9. Save and zip all files from the export.
  10. Go to Data Import & Export screen.
  11. Click on Import and select Update option.
  12. Select Organizational unit entity.
  13. Choose option to ignore blank values.
  14. Set type as the one you exported.
  15. Upload the zip file.
  16. Click on import data.
