3495040 - "Replace" and "Append" buttons do not work when saving a file

Symptom

When saving a file the ABAP dialog has the "Generate", "Replace" and "Append" buttons. However the "Replace" and "Append" buttons do not work.

When using these buttons either nothing will occur or the user will receive an "Error during frontend communication" or "Errors occurred when the function was executed" error message:

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

SAP GUI version independent.

SAP_BASIS 758 or lower.

ABAP PLATFORM - Application Server ABAP.
