Symptom

How to set up Timesheet approval workflow?

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Resolution

Depending on the configuration settings in Maintain Data Entry Profiles app, you can enable the system-wide approval for the workforce.

  • If the Approval Required checkbox is not selected in the SSCUI (102509) and time entries are posted, TimeSheetStatus is always 30 (Approved)

  • If the Approval Required checkbox is selected and time entries are posted, TimeSheetStatus is always 20 (Sent for Approval).

If the approval workflow is defined, the BAdI HCM: Timesheet Approver Determination (HCM_CATS_V1_APPROVER_DETRMN) can be used to determine the approver for each timesheet entry. Aslo, the BAdI can enable auto approval of timesheet entries.
