3495750 - Sales Kit Cost of Sales Associated with Wrong Profit Center

• The revenue of sales kit sales order item XYZ-XX is associated with the sales kit product's profit center ABC,  derived from its product category (XYZ-XX represents the sales kit sales order item ID; ABC represents the profit center ID associated with the sales kit's header product). 
• However, the cost of sales are associated with different profit centers, derived from the kit's product's product categories.
• You expect the cost of sales to be associated with the sales kit header's profit center. 

SAP Business ByDesign

1. In the Cost and Revenue work center go to the Reports view. 
2. Find the Sales Documents - Line items report. 
3. In the report selection enter the sales kit's sales order ID XYZ into the Associated Sales Order field and press Apply. 
4. Add Associated Sales order and item as well as Profit Center to the Row fields.
5. You notice, the sales kit's customer invoice is posted to profit center ABC, associated with the sales kit header's product. 
6. However, the incurred costs are posted to different profit centers, for example DEF and GHI (DEF and GHI represents different profit center IDs). 

You expect the cost of sales to be posted to the sales kit header's profit center XYZ. 

The cost of sales for sales kits can only be derived from the kit's separate product valuation/s. 

Sales kit deliveries can only be created for the sales kit's separate products. Sales Kits can never be valuated as single products. 

Therefore, it is not possible to automatically divert a sales kit's incurred costs from the involved products' profit centers over to the sales kit header's profit center. 
Due to the complex nature of sales kits automatic revenue (and cost) recognition, in general,  is not supported for sales kit products. 

The only way to achieve posting a sales kits cost of sales to the sales kit header's profit center is by manually assigning the sales kit items to the respective profit center before creating any deliveries: 

1. In the Cost and Revenue work center go to the Sales Document Items view.
2. Find the sales kit's sales order.
3. When you now select the sales order items you can see the different profit centers assigned to them in the General tab.
4. Press Reassign and select Profit center. 
5. Then assign the sales kit header's profit center, here ABC to all the involved items. 

If you now create a goods receipt/inbound delivery for the sales kit's products the cost of sales are all associated with profit center ABC.
