3496036 - Enhanced Search: Search Results Not Displayed in Default Locale or Not Ranked Alphabetically

Symptom

  • When searching in enhanced search of New Learning Experience, some search results are not displayed in user default locale.
  • If sorted from A to Z or Z to A, some titles are not in alphabetical order, e.g., item title starting with 'C' is ranked between two item with titles starting with 'A'.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Cause

The search results will be displayed in the matched language, if the only match is not in user default locale, e.g. description field in another locale, the item title in search results will also be displayed in that locale.

Meanwhile, sorting titles always follow the user's default locale language, despite how it is displayed.

As a result, an item title may display in another locale but sorted by title in default locale hence appears to be not in alphabetical order.

Resolution

This is considered expected language display behavior. Maintaining Item title and Item description in every used locale could avoid the issue.

If you would like this behavior to be improved, you can raise an enhancement request in the SAP Customer Influence portal. (KBA2090228)
