3496841 - Employee Time Records updated by v4admin user

Symptom

Employee Time records were updated by v4admin user even though there were no data changes to the job information or to the absence records of the time type for which the Employee Time records got updated by v4admin.

Environment

SAP SuccesFactors Employee Central - Time off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Navigate to the Employee Time records in Manage Data for any of the affected users
  2. You will see that the Employee Time record has been last updated by v4admin user

Cause

The Employee Time records were updated due to Absence Reallocation.

Resolution

In general, a reallocation will always get triggered when an update to a time account is made in a period where multiple time accounts overlap. This means that any change to an Employee Time record can trigger a reallocation if the change happens in the overlapping period and the Employee Time record posts to a Time Account.

Please note that a reallocation is also triggered if the overlapping Time Accounts belong to a different Time Type. For example, if a time type "Annual Leave" has three Time Account Posting rules, this means that there will always be three overlapping Time Accounts for this Time Type.

As a result, there will be overlapping Time Accounts every day. So, every change to a Time Account will trigger reallocation. This will happen independent of the Time Account used, which means that even if a Sick Leave is requested, it will trigger a reallocation even though no overlapping Time Account exists for Sick Leave. It is enough that any kind of overlapping Time Accounts exist.

Because of the multiple time account posting rules, there will be very frequent reallocations which is an expected behavior.

If this is not desired, you may consider turning off the reallocation if it is causing any downstream impact due to the update in the Employee Time records.

To disable absence reallocation, navigate to Manage Data -> Time Management Configuration -> Set "Absence Reallocation Enabled" to "No".

From the perspective of impact of turning off the reallocation, Engineering team has stated that this only has a cosmetic impact. With the feature turned off, the system reverts to its default behavior where posting order on time accounts depends on in which order Employee Time are recorded in the system.
