3497020 - Sales Item : Logistics area * not inventory managed

Symptom

You have created a Point of Sales Transaction, but the Sales Transaction is inconsistent and when you perform a check, the system displays the error "Sales Item ABC: Logistics area XYZ not inventory managed".

  • ABC represent the Sales Item ID.
  • XYZ represents the Logistics Area ID.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Customer Invoicing Work Center.
  2. Go to the Point-of Sales Transactions.
  3. Select the Sales Transactions sub view.
  4. Filter for all Sales Transactions.
  5. Search for the relevant Sales Transaction.
  6. Select Check button.
  7. The system displays the following error message is displayed:
    • Sales Item *: Logistics area * not inventory managed.

Cause

Error message is correct.

  1. Navigate to the Supply Chain Design Master Data work center. 
  2. Go to the Locations view. 
  3. Find and select the relevant Location ID.
  4. Click Edit Layout.
  5. Expand the Location.
  6. Select the relevant Logistics Area.
  7. You can see the Inventory-Managed flag is not set for the Logistics Area. 
  8. This means the Logistics Area is indeed not inventory managed. The error message is therefore justified and correct.

Resolution

Ensure to activate the Inventory-Managed flag for the relevant Logistics Area. 

System working as designed.
