3497720 - Unable to Add New Currency Type for a Company Code with Postings in P system - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

If postings have been made in P system already for a company code, is it possible to reverse the postings and then add new currency type, like freely defined currency 'Z1' for the company code?

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Cause

See SAP Help Portal: Create Additional Currency Types -> Caution part

Resolution

If postings have been made in P system already for a company code, reversal is not sufficient. The journal entries really need to be deleted, and that is not possible in P systems, but it Q, D or T systems.

The background is, that in case of reversal, there journal entry is still there in the database, and can be called with the display journal entry UI or other UIs. But as the configuration does not match, such UIs cannot work properly.

So suggestion is to create a new company code, and stop using that existing one.
