3497855 - Error: ''Workflow configuration can’t be added. The time type is used in one or more timesheets.'' When Adding Workflow to Attendance Time Type

Error occurs when assigning a workflow to an attendance time type: “Workflow configuration can’t be added. The time type is used in one or more timesheets.” Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

1. Navigate to Manage Data and attempt to add a workflow to an existing attendance time type.
2. Click Save.
3. The system displays an error message.
   

Employee time records already exist for the affected attendance time type in the instance.

When assigning a workflow to an attendance time type that has never had a workflow configured, the system validates whether existing employee time records already exist for the time type.

To prevent this error, please create a new attendance time type and assign the workflow before any time data is recorded. 

Support for adding workflows to existing time types is planned for the future release.
