3499250 - Error:"While trying to invoke the method ...Perspective.getRootNodes() ...getMasterPerspective()" appears when changing Webi report Data source

Symptom

  • Below error appears when changing a webi report data source to a universe based on ODBC Connection: 

"While trying to invoke the method com.sap.sl.datasource.Perspective.getRootNodes() of a null object returned from com.sap.sl.datasource.impl.DataSourceImpl.getMasterPerspective()" 

  • In IDT, when trying to show any table values of the used universe, below error appears:

    "Unable to connect to the infostore"
